    I'll admit I am a recent arrival to the ric 12 string camp, but I was surprised to find that the strings in this set were not packaged in individual envelopes with the gauges marked. I'm used to D'addario, ernie ball, etc. Given how a Ric is strung, it seems easiest to do all the slot-loaders first, followed by the top loaders. pairing the strings in envelopes with their octaves makes it unnecessarily difficult to keep track of what's what.

    That and one of the ball-ends shot off when i got the string to pitch (High G, .010). This can and has happened with many brands of string, part of the deal, but just thought I'd mention it.

    Otherwise they are perfectly fine strings, nothing special IMO. I bought three sets so my opinion might change after I install them a few more times.

    I have a Ric 370/12 and these are the only strings I use on it. This set of strings are really vital to keep that original vintage sound. My past experience tells me these strings last really well if you keep them clean after each playing session.

    Best strings I've ever had on my 360-12. Play in proper intonation all the way up the neck; not like the D'Addarios I've been using.

    I've tried a variety of string sets on my 2002 Rick 360/12, and the Rickenbacker strings (part no. 95404) and the Thomastik Infeld PotR customer set (flat wound) are the best so far. (I haven't tried the Curt Mangan strings yet which are also very highly rated.)

    The Rick strings are compressed wound which is somewhere between roundwounds and flatwounds in sound and feel. My guitar intonates really well with the Rick strings, they are low in tension, kind to the neck and feel nice under the fingers. They have a great jangly ring to them, a bit brighter than the TI flatwounds but mellower and janglier than other strings like the D'Addario roundwounds (which sound kind of clangy on my Rick 360/12).

    Please note that the gauges on the web page are incorrect. The packaging also looks different now. The correct gauges are:
    lower: 10-13-20-26-36-46
    octaves: 10-13-10-13-20-26

    The strings are quite durable and last as long as other strings I've tried. I've heard the TI strings retain their tone a really long time but I haven't had them long enough to test this out.

    You really can't go wrong with the Rickenbacker strings. It comes down to a matter of taste.
